“Nothing is better than kindness, good food, and breathtaking scenery—when all three come together, every moment becomes a memory worth keeping.” Marsha
Visiting my grandmother in Chile was like stepping into a dream. From the moment we arrived, her warmth wrapped around us, and she waited on us hand and foot, cooking the most delicious meals the entire time we were there. The house smelled incredible—fresh bread warm from the oven, meat roasting with spices, and the sweet aroma of fruits and vegetables that looked like they’d been grown by giants. Every fruit and vegetable burst with color and flavor, so different from anything I’d ever seen anywhere else.
I slept better there than anywhere else, lulled by the distant crowing of roosters and the crisp, clean air drifting through the valley. Outside, the Andes rose majestically, surrounding the land with breathtaking grandeur.
The streets were alive with dogs of every shape, size, and breed—many I had never seen before. Even the homeless ones carried themselves with confidence and intelligence, fearless as they lounged in the middle of the streets while people navigated around them. Watching them move so calmly through their world was utterly captivating.
One of the things I loved most about visiting Chile was how eating and gathering with family and friends felt like the heartbeat of life. Another meal at 11 p.m. wasn’t unusual—it was just another reason to sit together, laugh, and enjoy one another’s company. And somehow, everyone was in good shape, because everyone walked everywhere and no one complained. It was a simple, joyful way of life that celebrated connection, laughter, and generosity.
